 | Hello, my name is Tiera L. Taliaferro-Means. I am a proud native of Memphis, Tennessee and have successfully received my Bachelor’s degree in K-6 Elementary Education from Victory University in December of 2012. I am a very dedicated, determined, honest, hard working, and appreciative person. I am currently student teaching at Millington Elementary in a 5th grade language arts class. Millington Elementary, as a Title 1 school, provides educational services to students in a suburb community. It serves a very diverse group of students. The students are mostly military off springs, so they have been to many schools and experienced many different settings. I have also student taught at Raleigh Egypt Elementary in a 4th grade language arts class. Raleigh Egypt Elementary, a Title 1 school, provides educational opportunities to the urban population. My field experience within an urban school district has allowed me to develop and refine my classroom management skills and identify instructional methods to support underdeveloped learners. I have also had the opportunity to develop my communication skills and implement diversity within my instructional practices by completing my last field experience within diverse community school located next to a military base.
As I continue to learn, grow, and apply skills obtained through my Teacher Education Program and in life, I have developed my educational philosophy based on my beliefs, core values, and instructional practices. I truly believe the skills I obtained during my Teacher Education Program has provided me with the necessary skill set to effectively plan, collaborate, manage and maintain data, differentiate instruction, and implement effective classroom management skills to ensure academic success for all learners.
